On July 15th 2006, a meeting between
KIEIN stakeholders was held at KISR marking the inauguration of the project. In
this meeting, KISR management stressed the importance of the KIEIN Project as a
big step towards KISR Knowledge Base (KB), and as the corner stone for the future-planned
State of Kuwait Environmental Knowledge Base.
Dr Hamdy El-Gamily, the project manager, and the renowned international GIS expert,
stressed on Ms. Al-Frieh's vision to the project as whole, and the importance of
the current phase. He expressed that KISR will provide full support for the contracted
consortium
The project consortium expressed full understanding to the project's importance,
and assured commitment to the quality of work.
Eng. Ahmed Talaat, the project lead consultant explained the importance of the geodatabase
including the Socio-Economic dimension. He also stressed that the quality of the
deliverables is a commitment, and the adherence to schedule and time is guaranteed
by all the project contributors.
During the meeting, several topics were presented by representatives of the consortium,
including: the project phases and plan, the work process and deliverables of each
phase, as well as, the description of outputs and the requirements from KSIR.
The consortium representatives also presented the general findings of the preliminary
analysis (legacy systems, the functionality and data that the project will include
and provide, and how each department can benefit from knowledge sharing).
