To fulfill the identified requirements for data dissemination and access, the following system configuration for the KIEIN geo-environmental database is implemented:
This architecture is composed of three main servers: the ArcSDE-Geodatabase server, the ArcIMS server and the Web server.
The ArcSDE server stores geographic data and tabular data in one central database server via SDE (Spatial Database Engine) gateway.
While the ArcIMS Application server handles the requests for data and services.
Finally, the Web server is responsible for hosting the web-based GIS application and publishing digital maps on the internet.
